This looks to be an original pre-May 1945 Panzer lanyard. I see what you are saying that the badge may have been changed but on the other hand it may simply be the fact that the silver has faded over time which seems to happen with zinc examples.

Then again there is the possiblity that the badge never had any silver due to it being made later in the war.

Certainly nothing post war about the construction which I can see apart from the possibilities mentioned above and these are all wartime in nature,
