pig for me is normally associated with post war german army. and i have never seen a pebbled leather waterbottle strap before.

i would say pebbled strap represents late war utility of existing equipment leather stocks (eg mapcases, etc)

Late war canteens were made by L&SL 1944.
Both are mint and were found with mess tins.
