    German trench art mess kit

    Hi,

I got this mess kit a while back off the Estand. I have been trying to do some research on it. I believe the owner survived the war as he is not mentioned on the Volksbund website as having been killed. Some of the towns mentioned are in the Czech Republic. I know lager stands for prison camp so I would assume he was taken prisoner. Dresden stood out to me. I wonder if he could have been there during the infamous bombing? Any opinions or info would be appreciated?

    Thanks,
    Eddie

        nice mess tin,

see he was in Prague May 11th 45, Dresden in June 45 so he would have not been there during the bombing, though he might well have been employed for the clean up,

might be an idea to try google earth, then you can get an idea of his movements, I have used it several times with soldbuchs, even finding the exact house and street

This is interesting because it traces the movements of a captured soldier from the day the war ended in the east and his apparent place of capture, today Milovice, on to Prague 2 days later and so on.
