    Kriegsmarine bunker binocular help

    A friend of mine has bought a nice (pretty big) kriegsmarine bunker binocular. It was used in Holland.
    He would like to have some more information. Pictures will come asap (as he has no good cam for pictures, I need to take them).

    Text on it:

    BZ C/2 m Grupla

    BLC (Zeiss maker mark).

    Maybe some even can help according to these letters...?

    Thanks guys. I appreciate it!

    Binokulares Zielfernrohr C/2

    Hi there,

    This should be the same item your friend has bought.

    http://www.archive.zeiss.de/hzeig.FA...fernrohr+C/2++

    For directing direct fire from howitzers and heavy guns.

    It can be switched between 5x or 10x magnification. Weighs 13 kg to 15,3 kg.

    They are not seen too often, a nice find.

    Best regards
    Martin

          Wonderful piece. They are dual magnifcation as stated. They were mounted in sets of two on each side of the Schiffskanone of destroyer class or secondary armament on the Emden or K class ships. They were direct fire sighting equipment, mounted directly on the cannon turret structures - not for directing artillery fire or for howitzers.

          See below. Not the exact same model, but gives you an idea how they were mounted.

          There is another explanation, as well, that I must add. In 1944 the Gneisenau was torn down and the turrets were reconstituted to be bunker emplacements in Holland, near the Rotterdam area as well as Trondheim. Therefore, these gunsights may have come from those emplacements. Either way, they are still of Kriegsmarine Schiffskanone Turm lineage.
