    Y straps on e stand

    HI GUYS,

    I'D LIKE TO HEAR YOUR OPINIONS ON THESE Y STRAPS. Thanks in advance

        Apart from the fact that they are not in mint condition, as far as I can tell they are original.
        Probably they are treated with leather fat because they are so "black"

        the small "holding straps" as pictured here are missing unfortunately...

          Hi Doc,

          looks as if these Y-straps were very dry and indeed treated with an agressive and very fat leather softener, like Tom already pointed out. Look at the central disc: it's totally deformed. I would be very careful to use straps like these on a mannequin, especially in hotter climate (like in your country). In the summer these straps could become 'sweaty' and stain your uniform severely! Like Tom said, these straps are not complete. It will be difficult to find two identical leather 'rings' (retainers) to restore them. But th straps are 100% original, no Autrian post-war parts! Are there any markings? Looks like a 1941-1942 set to me.

              I thought the holding straps were there but now I see the little tab around the strap near the D ring is indeed missing.
