not necessary. These types of see through were aslo made in pre war period. These types were used by Reichswehr.

Would these have been used during the TR period ? My spade has a mark of 44E but the "E" looks like a backward 3. Any thoughts??

I don't see where the problem is Glenn, a question is asked and some answers are given...no ID asked here....just a question concerning shovel carriers with two open faces...no need for a pic...i could be wrong of course.

The Finnish Army also used E tool carriers during the war which were open on both sides. They normally have a "SA" stamp on them. Some have dates as well.
