MP 38u.40 cgn 1943 ammo pouch set

Hi guys, I just got this set of pouches and wanted to ask some questions. I like them and the details they have, I have never seen a set exactly like this. They are 1943 dated, but have the corner leather loop. The waffenampt is 47, which I know this company had at least in 1941, according to the list out there. There are some things I haven't seen before. The right and left edge of the pouch appears to be stiffened. Also, there is a white salt like residue inside the flaps and the pouches appear to be overall a bit stiff in places. Opinions are welcome. Anyone have a set by this maker?

wow, thats a sweet pair Gerald. Im predicting all good vibes on these. the markings sure look great, in my opinion everything does. these sets are too expensive for my blood at the moment but they sure do look awesome on a set up. Glenn

Gerard, this is the first time I have seen this maker mark (so have no other pouches in my records to compare), but they look very good. Be interested to hear what other members have to say.

No, I have never seen a set like this. But I am in no doubt that they are good (always fun to see something new when you thought you had seen it all!) Absolutely everything checks out! The only "strange thing" about them is the total lack of "special features"! Almost every single contractor seems to have had a special twist to at least one feature on their pouches, while these are totally mainstream!

Thanks everyone for the comments. I thought maybe the stiffened sides were a special feature bergflak? I have not encountered that before.

re salty residue and stiffness..perhaps these pouches saw service on or near the sea?

Unsure about that (unless there is something sewn into them to make them stiff!). "Stiff" is a hands-on thing, impossible to judge by pictures. If the canvas in itself appears stiff it might be the tightness of the weave, or they might have been stored under special conditions.....a salt-mine in the Ukraine perhaps
None of mine is "stiff". But by the pictures alone I am unable to tell what might be the reason.
