Ståle, your pouch appears to be very well made and marked.

The only other pouch that I have seen (which is very similar) was photographed together with a battery light cable commonly used to illuminate optics such as the MGz34and MGz40 optical sights used on MG34 and MG42 machine guns. The inside of the pouch has four pockets for storing spare battery cable light bulbs. I notice that your pouch has a similar storage compartment on the inside of the lid.

                  Light equipment pouch?

Hi all, here is my pouch the same as the pouch in the initial post.I notice the pouch pictured seems to have had quite a heavy repair to its lid?

                  rear view.

                  WaA on the side.

                  bulb holder compartment.

Light unit and dimmer switch, are we assuming that these two items would fit into this case? The dimmer switch is from the 1 metre rangefinder does anyone know if this switch would also be used on the MG lafette/sight set up?
                  Regards Jerry.

                    Hi Jerry.

Thanks for the information about the pouch.
There are no repair to the lid on my pouch, but rather an different and more well done attachment of the lid to the pouch.
My pouch seems to be in uinissued condition.

                    Best Regards

Hi Stale,Yours is only the third pouch of this type that I have seen,I guess the more complex construction of the lid on your pouch would make it less likely to split with continuous opening and closing.Regards Jerry.

                        Hi Jerry

Before i got this pouch, i havent seen anything like it.
I agree that the construction of my lid are done to secure the atachment during usage.
The leather used for this are grey in collor, same that they have used for the loops on the back of the pouch.
I also find the build quality rather high on this item.
In a simular way that you often seen on pre war equipment.

                        Best Regards

                            Hi Jerry,

The initial pouch shown as stated was used to carry spare bulbs, light connection leads, small torch etc. I have an identical one in Tan leather, which unfortunately has the block for the bulbs missing. The tan one I have goes with the RK31 set.
The main RK Pouch has a long carry strap, the pouch for the leads is threaded on one side, and the pouch for the RK periscope goes on the other side. Ergo, one strap carrying 3 pouches.

You mention the dimmer switch. I have a functional one and I have tried it with both versions of the MG optical sights. Whilst it may not have been intended for this purpose, it is in fact HIGHLY effective in controlling the brilliance on the graticules in comparison to the target area. I would be astounded if the crews did not use them if they had them. The dimmer switch is also contained within the larger flat tin containing battery box, many spare bulbs and batteries along with associated leads etc.

Cannot load pictures as my account has gone to hell in a handbasket as with many
