Was there a discussion thread on this? I'd be interested in seeing it.

              Dont fake i think

Whats wrong with this one ?I think this is a Orginal Lanyard. The lanyard type is pictured in the new book about German Leuchtpatronen. The fangreimen on the picture in the book is the same type as this one.I saw a picture of a LP-42 on this forum complete with fangreimen like this,i sent the owner a question about the lanyard orginality and the answer was that the lanyard was autentic .

Because something is pictured in a book does not make it authentic. He could have been one of the early buyers of this fake.

I collected flareguns for 40 years with over 600 German Flareguns in my collection, and observing well over 10,000. I never saw one of these untill about one year ago. Magically they keep turning up as long as there is money chasing them. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to conclude they are fake.

I have literally owned 100's of Lp-42's and observed hundreds more, and never saw one with a marked leather lanyard. Until this last year that is, if only one turned up, and maybe two in different parts of the world, yes, possibly.
but many, and from the same individual, not likely.

If you are sure it they are real, there must be some excellent photographs of them, or manufacturers catalog, etc. to proove they are real. If I ever find a real example I will post it.

Also note the other Fake flaregun items this individual sold including a fake canvas " Africa Corps" Flaregun Holster. If you wish to believe the lanyard is real enjoy, but please do not criticise me for trying to help.

                  Good Collecting, signalman

Difficult to find pictures of flare gun items like this one,a lanyard is pictured in the book written by wolfgang Kern and the new book about flare cardidges. On this forum you will find a picture of an Lp 42 and lanyard, its the same lanyard of this one.Of course it,s strange that so many lanyards suddenly appear on the market, but the seller on e-bay had a lot of strange autentic items from his father, who was in Germany in 1945-1950 and picked up a lot of items. If someone have a lanyard they expect are autentic, send a picture of it.It was not a critic of you signalmann, regards AYF
