    Reproduction shoes for display

    Hi,

i'm looking to buy a pair of reproduction boots for display purposes.

Are the ones from at the front acceptable (the m42)?

Everyone that I know that owns them are very happy with them, except the incorrect hobnails.

If you're not going to be wearing them for reenactment I would suggest looking at WWII-era German or European work boots, the kind that are so often sold on eBay as original Wehrmacht issue. These boots are old and look the part in a display, the new reproductions will of corse look brand new and will really stick out if you display them with old original stuff. Wartime Swedish low boots are also available. Some German soldiers (a minority) did wear period work boots, boots from the HJ, or other types of boots/shoes that were not the standard issue type. I know some collectors with lots of mannequins and some use these types of period low boots to display with some of their mannequins, rather than spend many thousands (in total) on something which will barely be seen when displayed with trousers and Gamaschen. Some purists will balk at this but even looking right at the boots, it can be hard to tell if they are issue or not if most of the boot is covered up anyway. It also makes it possible to use mannequin stands that require a hole be put in the boot, without destroying a collectible historical artifact.
