It looks original, but not German ww2 period. Maybe from another country post ´45 use ?

                  Hi all,

so to get my order correct. Intial German pouches had the Y-Strap "D" ring on the upper corner and then switched it to extending straight out the side of the pouch? Any ideas of apx. when they switched styles.

And then the Norwegians copied the earlier style?

                  Thanks, Jeff

Yes. The Norwegian army copied the earlier style with the cornered D-ring. Probably because it was cheaper and easier, although the pouches travel better on the tabbed D-ring.

The change in German production came around 1941 (probably second half).

                          Hi

I havent seen any light tan norwegian made or german light tan used in Norway.
I saw one of the biggest depos of mp40 pouches when they was delivered to Kristiansand nationalguard depot and the soldiers was given new made ones. I never saw a tan one.

                          Regards

Has been discussed before in other threads on the forum. Main identification points:
                              -unmarked
-rather large leather disks behind the buttons
-sometimes (but not always) sewn with the pink/red thread that was also often used to attach the replacement web-loops.
-D-ring is a little bit odd
-leather is a little "bright" (light in color and too shiny)

Manufactured as replacements for the German webb pouches in small numbers before the pigskin pouches in brown/green/grey were issued in large scale.
