just type in "canteen" in the "advanced search" icon on the upper right hand corner of the screen and youll find hundreds of threads with tons of info and examples of any kind you are referring too. you might want to be specific when you enter the key words and the discussion area you are seeking. www.mp44.nl has some basic info with great pictures, also on more equipment parts.
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

That website is the only one I know of. There's a lot of websites selling German canteens, but not many with information for collectors to research. I thought there would be a list of websites by now. I'm just trying to learn what ever I can about the canteens. At a gun show about 6 months ago I bought a complete canteen with canteen, cover, and strap dated '39 and cup dated '43 for $50. This seems to be cheap compared to what they're going for on ebay. I'm more into old military guns and it's easy to find lots of info on just about any gun out their. My 10 year son has the German canteen along with 3 US canteens displayed in his room, my wife doesn't mind me sharing these non gun related things with him. He also has a few other WWII related items. Half the fun in finding things is researching them. Thanks you'll, I'll do a canteen search w/in the forum and check google and yahoo a little farther.

I'm also a field gear guy, and a search on the forum will bring you a wealth of information on a large variety of canteens, as well as some really good member uploaded pics. So far, WAF is the best repository on the net I have found for field gear info,
