hey Guys, Glenn here. first off, get your minds out of the gutter. thats not what Im implying! now on to the business at hand. I have here both of my tornisters. one a furry pack and the other a canvas. although both are for the most part identical in construction there are a few minor details that differ and I was hoping someone could tell me what these differences were specialized for. the canvas pack is what We think of as far as the standard combat field tornister. it has the 2 "D" rings on the top and the leather vertical strap near the bottom for securing the A frame to it. whereas My furry doesnt have the "D" rings nor the vertical strap but has a horizontal strap near the top and another the same size on the direct bottom. anyone know what this configuration was used for. any info would be greatly appreciated. Glenn

Hello Glenn,
both are differents because your canvas one is a pure M39 for infantry, while the fur one is a M34 with carrying straps replaced with short hooked ones (and the back rear straps is missing). Due to its late war date production, the M34 maybe went out of the factory with these short straps meant for the Y-straps as many troops, infantry aside, were issued the Y-straps at this date
Nice ones....

[quote=JPhilip;2302192]Hello again,
I've seen a date 1943 on your M34 Tornister, that's why i wrote the last sentence in my previous post. But if dated 1940, as i might see now, please don't pay attention it...
no, you are correct at first glance. I know it looks like a '40 but when seen with your naked eye its '43. I had to ask the seller the same question stating if it was deemed a '40 by me I would need to return it. needless to say in direct sunlight its definitely a "3". I should have taken the pic at a better angle. Glenn
