Ammunition box bag

Hi mates,
got this MG ammo box bag.Would like to know your opinion if this condition was a personal modification /has anyone the same modification?/ or more probably a postwar work.Thank you in advance.

Original, but only one left - they left the factory as a pair, and were seperated somewhen.

So separation was done by individual taste of soldier during war and there is nothing wrong with it -Just personal modification ? Am I right ?
