    K-98 pouch I.D.

    Hi folks,
Me again, new member Johnnie. I am in the process of examining all of my Wehrmacht field gear collection to verify that each item is original, and to get rid of what isn't. I hope you guys will bear with a newbie, and again, sorry, no photos.
I have 2 K98 ammo pouches. The first is like all the other Werhmacht pouches I have seen. Blk pebble 3 compartment leather. The D ring is actually square aluminum rounded corners, and attached to the back of the pouch on a shield shaped piece of leather with 3 brads, 2 at top, the third at the point od the shield below. The only marking I can find is 40 stamped into the leather just under the piece that holds the D ring.
The second one is the one I am unsure of. from the front it looks just like the first, 3 pocket blk pebble leather, and the exact same size. However, the construction on the back is different. The D ring is just that, oval bottom, square corners top aluminum. It is sewn onto the back of the pouch to a square piece of leather with two brads. The belt loops are leather braded to the back using oval aluminum plates between the brads and the leather back of the pouch. They then extend under leather loops also aluminum braded and the belt loops end with a hole that fits over the aluminum tit at the bottom of each end pouch. The center pouch tit is larger and more rounded that the two end tits. `Inside each compartment is what appears to be dividers made out of laquered hard leather to seperate the two clips, and actually bent forward to hold the forward clip in place. The only marking I can find is 102 on the inside of the center securing strap where it is sewed to the cover. Also someone wrote their name in ink, but all that is readable is "Q. G..."
I realize that without pictures, correct I.D. is difficult, but from the description of the second pouch, does it fit Wehrmacht production, or postwar?
    Thanks,
    Johnnie
