    Hi

    I am offered this pair of NG Goggles.
    They have clear glasses.


    Any comments regarding those?

          IMO they look a nice original set!

          But do you have better pics of the stitching on the straps?

            The goggles are fine originals. The straps looks like they have been resewn to the goggles, and this typ of straps are usually seen on the type you can fold together IMO.

              I agree, they look fine from the pics..

              Straps are indeed the type you'll find on the ones with the screws in the nose bridge.., handsewn to the frame.
              These pairs are completely foldable, but I've seen pairs with these straps and the screws that could only fold for a part and I think they had the Nigura mark....
              Any ideas or noticed this too ?


              Funny thing is that the completely foldable ones with the screws don't have a makermark as far as I know, at least mine has none, plus they've this type of straps..., makes me believe this particular type were not made by N&G, but by another maker doing in optics.., it's just a feeling, I've no proof for that..

                Hi

                This pair of glasses are special.
                The pilot who had them had not so good seeing.
                I dont know what it called in english but the lenses are made to fit his bad seeing.
                Sorry that i could find the right word for this.

                  Yes, I've seen several pairs for bad eyesight...., sometimes it's written on the can somewhere..
                  I think for airgunner and radio operators it was no problem, but I think fighterpilots etc. should've good eyes, no ?

                    FYI, the tin is marked "D" which is for the dark lense goggles. Yours should be marked with an "A".

                      Correct, but I think it wasn't that much of a problem then than it is now..
                      Think many got mixed... or lenses were changed.., or the set was completed postwar..
                      Although I've seen a dark pair with a pair of clear "spare" lenses, it's almost impossible to find these extra lenses, except from some grounddug pairs I've seen..
                      Would be nice to have a pair.

                      Think in reality they just had a couple of extra goggles, would be the most easy way..
