    one of my favorites

a field made first-aid box ( mg ammobox). Bought this one a few years ago on a fleemarket in the nord of France...

Not the best condition, but a real front-item.

    Hope you like it

    cheers

Yep, Harry, 'cool' is indeed the word. I know these are ' faked' too, a normal ammo-box, put a redcross on it, a little aging and voila, price goes up.

I've seen common 'rugsacks' for sale wit redcrosses painted on the flap ( you could smell the paint from 100 m), result : double price...but what in let's say 20 years?

Anyway, if someone has one in his collection, or have a wartime picture showing these in use, it would be great!

          cheers

                Nice Find..

That piece looks like it has some history behind it. Any idea what unit it may have come from?

I think that's difficult to determine. It could have been used by troops stationned in that particular part of France, or that it was left behind in mai 40 as they advanced, or that it was left behind during sep 44, when they retreated. I think this stays a wild guess.
To many possibilities stays open, nevertheless, like you've said this box has been there...

                  cheers

Oh yea, you're right next time I just pass on it, thinking of all the French collectors who comes to the Ardennes or to the WW 1 battlefields in Flanders to dig and to search

                      cheers
