Picked this up in Germany last month-was looking for anyones opinion on if it is original or not. It is a little over 14 inches in length, all wood with the metal top to make it look like a grenade. Thanks in advance. Mike

More a throwing object used as a "sporting" aid. Ok, it similar to the ones that were used in the HJ, but also by 100% gymnastics clubs in the 30's.

Those grenade-dummys where used only for training of hitting a aim (or getting as close as possible, as well for distance-training), and of course for various Wehrmacht- and police-sporting competions. I have in my neighborhood a police-veteran (now 96 years old) who was also a great sportsman, and he has won several competions throwing those dummys. Or do you think they used live stick-grenades for those competiones?
The grenades (red with holes) Glenn mentioned were used for combat-training, along with blank-ammo, to prepare the soldiers for combat.Attached Files
