    Identity Disc Holder

Ok, this is kind of boring, but if I get the jist of this cartoon postcard, he is holding his holder out as a wallet????Postcard Is that what these were actually and not a disc holder as I have been told. Look at the card to the left.

    Hi Jack,

No, these were ID disc holders, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were used as small wallets too. The soldier in the cartoon is talking about having only 5 Pfennigs- that could be a single coin.

Hi Jack, here is an item that was dug in Normandy about 25 years ago from the sand dunes in the U.S. beachhead area. I beleive it to be a dog tag holder. The condition is surprisingly good. The cloth has lost much of it's nap and looks better in the pic
      Cheers, Ade.

Here is a pic of the padded pink interior. A dog tag fits just right.

          ID Disk holder

Ok guys a buddy of mine found a bunch of these in a shop in Europe. He got them from a guy who didnt know what they were. I am looking for opinions here. Are these real disk holders or change purses? A disk fits perfectly in them and the leather has the look and feel of old leather. Please let me kow what you think

                Hi All,

the ID disc holders were also used to carry small change(or vice versa small change pouches converted to hold ID tags), I have one named to a Lt Paul Pulz I/Inf Regt 6. It is a 2 press button type, the interesting thing is that the neck cord is made of Recconaisance brown soutache cord. Sorry I can't post a scan (no scanner). There where a large number of ID tag pouches around a few years ago with a four leaf clover on the front all mint, anyone else seen these and care to comment, IMHO they are post war ......thoughts ?

                Cheers
