Other marking on the connector to the earpiece is 2001A. Unless someone else knows better, I think based on the connector and the KM markings it was used for a land based comm system. Maybe a Field Phone outfit for Shore based Arty unit or some such.

It¨'s inscription says " Navy " so I would assume it was used in a command situation onboard a ship.
