Wanted to get input on these. Are they ww2 German? If so, what "model" are they? Mountain, pioneer, standard army....

Yes they are WW2 german rucksack.
First it's an army model,not specifically GJ.
Second is GJ model.

I had always thought the 1st backpack was specifically GJ....

Both are for GJR...First typical "Bergen"(not mid-late Kampfrucksack) pattern, second early model(M40 if I remember correctly...) Sad that extra straps for pouches are missed.

I think IMO that the first one is "general purpose" used by all ,there is some pictures somewhere of WH soldier carrying it. And the second is GBJ
