Harry, the small tag on the strap has the same name as the label inside the can : Uffz.Rubner....I've not identified him and I traded the can yesterday with two helmets, so it's no longer with me!

    Cheers

      Hello Cliffe,

I have never heard of an order in relation with the repainting of Gasmask-canisters. I once had a gasmask whose snout and container were repainted with a paint I would call Luftwaffe blue-grey. So far I have seen only two different colours of issue paint for the canister: a kind of applegreen (like M 35 DD) for 1936 dated short canisters and a dark fieldgrey for later canisters.

The picture hopefully shows the differences. All have a WaA mark in the lid, so it is sure, that they still have the original paint.

This is my first photo, so I hope it will work

      Johannes
