IMHO all post war..... - especially matches - this eagle has a post war style - and these matched are very expensive - like for war times, 30PF was a lot of money back then.... matches could cost then 1-2 PF

The text on the box of matches reads "Kleinverkaufs Preis 30 Pf. fuer 10 Schacht." (short for Schachtel, meaning box or package) so the price for the matches is really only 3 Pf. These matches came wrapped in paper in packages of 10 boxes and the same paper label that is glued to each box was glued on the outer paper wrapper. I have seen these matches advertised as coming from wartime stocks. I believe that the same style of eagle was used before and during the war as well- the DRL used a similar eagle I believe. The matches could be 1944 or 1946 in my opinion, I don't think match packaging changed much in those years.

Hello Olivier

The blades are pre 1945 ,as the same brand and make "Sonnal gold"(sonnal extra is from the 1930's) ,can be seen advertized in German magazines of the period (signal ,die wehrmacht ,deutsche illustrierte etc...) such magazine are a good source of infos ,concerning personal items available to the landser ,during wartime.
The matches however ,are both post-war ,ViKtor is right on the first one ,the one with the eagle is from the early 1950's.

Remember this old thread, showing the matches with the eagle marked Haushaltsware? www.ostfront.com is selling pages from an album of product labels collected in 1931-34, this match box label appears in the collection. They may have been produced through the 1950s but were also used before the war it seems. Here is the site showing the label in the album:

I have box of matches with description: ZUNDHOLZER, monopolverwaltung reichskommissar ukraine (around black eagle) and under the eagle, in Ukrainian or Russian CIPHNKN (sirniki). Do You think they are original?

the lot is a bunch of labels put together in 1933-34

this eagle is perfectly fine and is pre-war (maybe used after the war but its also wartime)

The label I have is also priced 30 pf, its 100% prewar and remember German money was way devalued during the 30s super depression, bahlsen keks (cookies) just the butterkeks (leibniz-keks) cost 9000 Marks in 1923! Bahlsen Duve Keks (also a Wehrmacht Ration item) Cost 8000 Marks per box (yes individual box, NOT a case) in 1923 and the cookies with chocolate? They cost 18,500 Marks, so at these prices, 30 pf for a box of matches is in par.

Well - hyperinfaltion was stopped in 1924 - thats when the new money were introduced - the Reichsmark. Reichsmark hada huge value..

and I dont think these matches are pre 1924

Regardless, why would they appear in a meticulously arranged photo album of advertising items put together in 1933/34? They could no doubt be leftovers, matches can be used for many years, not an issue at all. But its the same eagle same label, But as for the same label being used postwar, sure its possible but they were used after the war as well but I am quite sure of the originality of this particular label as pre-war German.
