This is a true "grunt" pair. Has anyone seen any others boots like this?

Again, these must be late war, and incorporate the wide style of heel horseshoes. Private purchase?

And these use the wide style too.

                  Thank you all for looking.

I agree totally with Mike on the last 2 sets of boots shown here. the lowboots are instant one lookers as not being German pre '45. for starters the soles are all wrong. I will post pics of mine today as a comparrison. Glenn

Sorry, these are reenactor altered boots from the Bundeswehr, and not even very old ones at that. Note that the adjustment strap at top has been removed, leaving a thin V of leather. Also, observe there is no halfsole, and the hobnails really go too close to the heel. Bundeswehr, or maybe Bundesmarine. Such boots we used to have to use for reenacting before the Wall came down and we could the DDR ones, much better looking than the BRD ones.

Well, I have read the comments about my boots, and must agree with what has been said, particulary about the hobnailed BW "grunt" pair. The odd thing is, I never really thought "outside the box" when it came to them. I bought them when I was rather young, and I guess to me they were always "real German jackboots" Looking at them the other day made me think about a BW pair I bought a while ago, and suddenly started to see the obvious similarities. I pulled them out of deep storage (it took some effort just to find them) and photographed them for comparison. Here they are, for anyone interested.
