I have been eyeing this one for some days now and I wanted to know what you guys think. I like the stitching and its general look. however, now im uncertain if heer used its early ones as brown or were they always black? on the other hand, there were subtle differenced on the luftwaffe map cases that im not seeing on this one. any input on this guys?

Hi Das Reich,

This map case is a nice example.
This is natural color of the leather.
In 1943, there was one regulation about burnishing of leather.
So, you can consider using the brown equipment until 1943.

thanks guys. i always thought that the brown leather to black regulation was issued in 1940 after it was found in the field that it was targeted by enemy troops. thanks for the clarification.

Hi

Map cases for LW will normaly be marked as E.G "L.B.A (S or B) 37" and 37 means the year 1937. The coulor for early ones that mean from 1935 to 40 will either be light to chocolate brown depending of age.After 1940 the coulors different to black must be dyed blach after according to HQ order.

So with a few exceptions a nice LW map case must be marked as said and be chocolate brown.
