WH First-aid pouch with nice feature

Hello to all

Here's a neat little first-aid pouch that came in recently. It's a "S" marked one (Sanit******228;ter). Complete and no damage, 1940 dated.Initials on top of the pouch: V.W.

Now, first-aid pouches are not that rare and I have already several, but I simply couldn't resist this one.

I know that some of you are thinking ; post-war added. I believe this to be ww2-era done. I've seen several wartime ones that were 're-used' post-war by youth-organisations, DRK,etc...but they all had stickers on them, were denazified and the labels were removed/changed.

In ten years of collecting I've never seen something like this! The RC is painted by hand. No red was used though, just the shape of a cross in white. It has the same wear-pattern as the pouch itself. It is totally untouched...Wish it could talk.

What you have there is not a WH military first-aid pouch but a genuine DRK ww2 pouch, I presume you know that?

What is it exactly, leftovers of white paint? Maybe this pouch had once a sticker like I stated in my first post, but I could be totally wrong offcourse
