They are not S&M wholesale..but close..real ones should be very well marked..from what I have seen..same as their Luft tropical counterparts.

I have a pair of Luft tropical boots that have no markings that I can find except a few numbers on an outside strap. They are salty originals that I showed to experts at SOS and the forum moderators here.

There is a lot of speculation and controversy regarding that particular boot.

One story I've heard is that a cache of them was found unissued, minus laces, with light storage wear. They were all marked "42" or "43" on the sole and bare no other markings. Some have black eyelets while others have brown eyelets. Although they were probably never issued or worn, they were legitimate pre 1945 boots... sort of like all the M34 tropical caps that were found not that long ago in tied bundles of 20. You couldn't get $175.00 for a cap ten years ago but nobody ever questioned their authenticity.

That style of boot in your picture has also been sold by well respected dealers like Bill Shea (Ruptured Duck) and until recently The Collector's Guild, where last year a pair were sold on that site as "post-war copies". The reason for this was probably fueled by earlier forum discussions on this site about those boots being bogus. However, I have seen the same boots sold through The Collector's Guild auction catalogs through the years and they were legitimate boots then.

People will also say that these "42/43" marked boots were made for US soldiers stationed in Europe that did German tropical reenactment in the 1970's, but those repro boots look nothing like the pair you've listed.

Some swear that the boots are fake but I haven't heard any convincing evidence that they are...

Rodolfo, my boots are Luft tropical, not army, so no real comparison. I was just commenting that mine are not marked that I can find.
