SS Honor Ring Worn By Diddo Diddens a Heer GD Officer???

With all the recent postings of SS Honor Rings I was surprised to see a photograph of Knights Cross holder and Grossdeutschland member Diddo Diddens wearing an SS honor ring.

Does anyone know how he became qualified to be awarded this SS award? Did he also hold membership in the SS as Hans Ulrich Rudel did while also a member of the Luftwaffe?

he came to the Wehrmacht from the SS and the reward was a gesture of respect from Himmler for his military merits

Thank you for your response. I guess if I'd have spent just a little more time researching this officer I'd have found the enclosed link and information sooner, but since this is already up hopefully it will provide the answer for others interested in this officer as well.

Yes, Diddens was a Sargent in the SS. I believe Himmler would present TK rings on holders of the knights cross if they were also members of the SS.
