(Very) salty Kharkov Parka - opinions?

    Hello,

I picked up what i hope is a very salty 3rd Pattern Kharkov parka and would like your opinions if it's genuine?

It's definitely rabbit fur, and it's construction seems to be the same as others previously posted on the forum

I'd appreciate any comments or opinions you may have

    Best wishes

    Calib

The parka is good, but the photos are terrible, so hard to see any damage like you mention

Original. Typical very late war, italian camo example.

Images served their purpose. Its good but why do you say it's very salty? Looks nice to me. Colors are still strong from what I can see and damage from wear and tear is not really evident in your 'handy' images.

Sorry about the picture quality, you're right, I used my handy but on the weekend I'll take better pictures to show the colours and close up details

              Once again, thanks

                Hello,

here's a few better pictures to show the colour and damage to this salty parka.

My wife has said it stinks and can't stay in the apartment until the musty smell has gone, so has anyone any ideas as to how I can get rid of this musty smell? Otherwise, it has to go to the basement!!!

                Thanks for any suggestions

Looks beautiful to me and isn't the smell part of why we do this? Like sniffing glue?

To remove the odor place the parka in a suit bag along with a small container of ground coffee or baking soda and store it for some time zippered close. The coffee will absorb the odor and makes it fresh smelling.

To wash, soak it in tap cold water with some Persil or Woolite and gently use only your hands to squeeze down the full length of the parka and each sleeve. No abrasive brushes, no scrubbing at all. Persil has no phosphates in it and will be okay as it will not make the parka glow under blacklight or destroy the dyes or fur. Its gentle enough not to cause damage. Woolite is what is used typically. Also available in .de

Air dry. Once dry use a soft brush to brush the fur downwards. This will revive the fur lining.

                  Servus!

                    Thanks Lloyd,

It's a bit tatty with tears and smells but i love it!

I'd rather get rid of the smell and keep it in my apartment rather than have to store it unwashed in the basement

Thanks again Lloyd for the quick response

                    Best regards
