    E-Stand: Allgemeine SS visor hat

    Hello Gentlemen,

I saw this offer on e-stand: LINK

Can't comment the hat but I don't like the metal insignias.
In my opinion the eagle and the skull are unfortunately not original.
    What's your opinion?

    Regards,
    Dagaz

Badges are "pathetic and ridiculous" fakes.

      Hi,

i'm reposting some pictures for the discussion.

Please note that - oh surprise - the seller provided only one (!) low quality picture of the front insignia, and dozen of the cap itself.

I also posted the cap in the cloth headgear forum here :

      See You

Agree. He should have spent another $ 1,500 for genuine insignia
(if he could find them for that amount).

Elsewise he'll just hear nothing but crickets -- except from the great unwashed.

Its all a bit odd . . . If the cap is okay
€3500 could be a good investment, at great price
whip the insignia off and wait for a good mint pair to turn up
After saying that ~ Pipping looks to be a bit thick and woolly ?
and aged in the inside and not the pouter ???
                Regards David

I agree the large piping (which appears a little fuzzy as well) and interior condition raises a flag, also the shape and dimension of the visor look off. Hopefully Ben will chime in.

                    Hello,
I compared the piping with my other visors and it's not a bit thicker then the pipins of my other caps I tried to take pictures with another photocamera.
It's hard to provide better pictures with a normal camera, and to be clear, I did NOT put only one picture on the site of the insignia because they might be bad.

I hope the pictures are better now, my apologies for the other ones.
The piping is really normal and not fluffy.

I like the cap and its shape.
They insignia are no doubt fake ones.

Badges are junk but I see no problems with the cap itself. Looks genuine to me.

An appropriate "M1/52" in cupal with plenty of silver finish could cost the best part of US $1500 these days. Good originals with both pins seem to sell for US $1000 to $1200

Then you have the cost of, for example a "155" eagle in cupal with nice silver finish could be another US $1000+

However, the hat has a very nice shape. Apply the two correct insignia properly and "Bob is your uncle" depending on what you pay for the hat,

                              Chris
