I cant see anybody chopping up an original TK tab in recent times to do this. It just doesn't make sense to me, even if it was damaged. It doesn't look like they were trying to fool a collector. It seems to make more sense that it was done during the war. To me, it was done in the field. The zig-zag stitching on back was common for the era. I'm not saying just factory but a way of reinforcing. I'm wondering if owner could get some close-up pics of stitching on skull edges [if it was stitched on]. If it was glued on, forget it. It would also be nice to see some evidence of it being tunic attached [if it was]. Try holding it up to a bright light.
