Its also worth noting with palm that the print on each side dosent exactly match up perfectly.
There will always be slight "movement" of the design on 1 side to the other after manufacture.

Looks like a smock to me, overprint 5-6 or variegated type with the starshape on the elbow?

Nah ,
Its just s sparse part of a hand screened overprint.
Look at the B@W pics I posted against the color.
Its easy to loose the pattern.

Here is the same Heer Hauptman attached to the 12th SS. The NCO with the visor cap may be the same man with the zipper but you can't see his jacket.

Notice the SS-Unterscharfuhrer is wearing HBT trousers in the previous photos. This seems to be common during training of the HJ Division. Here is another example. The photo on the left is a famous shot used on the back cover of Hubert Walther's book on the 12th SS. The Woscidlo photo on the right is the same grenadier on the same day, probably right before he ran across the field. You can see the repaired trousers in both photos.
