SS Smoke and Pz Troops in Arnhem, Oosterbeek, and an interesting uniform photo

    Dear All,

This photo was most likely taken in the Arnhem, Oosterbeek area. Most likely shortly after the airborne landing.

The Officer is a member of the Werfer Abteilung 102 (smoke troops). What unit would the Pz NCO possibly be from, and what kind of jacket is he wearing? Certainly not an issue wrap... I am not sure what exactly is written above the photo, and whether he is a member of a Pz or a Pz Abwehr unit, since he is wearing a GAB rather than a PAB...

    Thank You

    Best,
    Al

Arnhem: Same Officer, who is the aide to the commander of the Werfer Abt. 102.

Oosterbeek: Same Officer, at the 2nd Battery of the Werfer Abt. 102.

Seems, the second WSS officer's (right) last name was Riehm and he was KIA.

      Any info appreciated...

      Thanks again!

Black tunic for SS-FLAK-Troops, very popular also with other troops:

Could be him, rank matches (also - as usual - the equivalent army rank was used), and cemetary is close to the dutch border:

Feuerstellung (firing position)... makes perfect sense. This NCO was most likely part of this Werfer Abteilung then...

Is this cammouflaged piece of hardware a Nebelwerfer?

Last mystery is then what Hans Bartels was doing there... I posted this question also here.

More likely he is SS-Untersturmführer Joachim Riehm:

Question is if these photo's were taken during or after the battle of Arnheim / Oosterbeek. Bartel's Bibers did attack the bridge at Nijmegen. Maybe a long shot but was he on a recce mission or simply happened to be there after the retreat from Fécamp?

                        Regards,
                        Bert

The man in the photo is Ustuf. Joachim Riehm, my grandfather. He is missing since April 1945 in the combat section southeast. Me and my fanily are looking for information about his last days and his remaining. We are grateful for any information.
