Hi guys,

I wanted to share my latest acquistion with you. Just got this nice SS officers insignia group this morning.
I really love the look of the Zimmermann Cupal skull, however it came with repaired and replaced prongs. Hope you like it.

Skull is for sure good, usually with flat pins, however it has replaced ones unfortunately.
The Zimmermann Skulls came with two different pin set ups

i should better say, i passed on this skull.
He was offerd to me some month ago for 60€ (and i had him in hands!!), i made a reserch for the round pinns (my biggest problem was that you can see the pins in the front) and it exist a variant, but exactly this skull was dicussed here as coppy:

I got those from another collector and he also told me that he's not sure about the skull since the pin set up looks strange.

However IMO this is a second type "cone" style Zimmermann Cupal skull with reapplied pins. It is not one of the heavy cast fakes, it looks and feels like Cupal and so its fairly light weight.
As you can see, the finish of the skull is worn off, however the pins are straight which doesn't match with the overall condition of the skull.
It even shows some glue remnants where the new pins were set.
The used pins are thick as nails, so its most likely impossible to bent them without damaging the skull.

The original Zimmermann prongs should be flat of course, however this skull as stated is not untouched!

The skull shows natural wear and I can not see any unusual cast marks in hands?
If thats a fake its probably the best one I've even seen and I've handled quite a few original ones before. I can definitely tell its not one of the cast zink skulls shown in the links.

Its not a big deal for me since the seller told about the pin problem which reflected in the price of course. The items were part of a collection, so I can not tell where the skull came from. At least I got a nice pair of collar tabs then

So please feel free to discuss the skull further, I'm very curious about your opinions.

While I think the runes tab is probably original, the piping appears to have been added by an unskilled hand at some point in time.
