I believe they were all finished with a silver/gray paint style finish when they were made. This wore very quickly, but you can usually find traces in the low areas even if the high areas have worn away, (unless cleaned heavily).
I don't see any reason to think that this one has been cleaned from the photos, but I can't say for sure.

Thank you Chris for the response. The reason why I asked this question is because I believe that I have never seen any CupAl skull with silver-color back. They exhibit just bare copper(red). While skulls made of solid alloys (of yellowish and reddish color) and zink are all coated on both sides. I could be wrong of course and that is why I am trying to figure it out but I thought that it is probably because CupAl and aluminum skulls were already silver on front and there was no real need to coat them with silver, so they were never coated. I do not know but was it even technologically possible to coat only one side? Since you said all skulls were coated but CupAl skulls have bare copper reverse, then technologically it was probably possible. Then why are all zink and alloy skulls always coated (with silver) on both sides?Last edited by Disco Partisan; 03-09-2016, 03:35 PM.
