          Looks more American than German....

He is in Berlin, in front of the Französischer Dom.

It does somewhat resembles a US model M42 jump jacket at first glance, but it is certainly is not one.

I have seen a picture of (if I remember correctly) a High Ranking SS officer wearing something similar...
with similar cloth belt. (Italian campaign no doubt)

I am now convinced that it is in fact WW2 Italian...(slip-on style...)Italian Tropical M40 "Camiciotto"
The Germans confiscated a lot of their gear in 1943 during the surrender...so something like this being worn in the rubble of post war Berlin
is not too surprising! I managed to answer my own question after some research! I actually own such a tunic!

Looks like some kind of italian tailored uniform wear by SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Waffen-SS Karl Wolff at the time of his capture in Italy (if my memory is right)

Unfortunately I'm not able to find the photo at the moment
(maybe in the Beaver's books if someone can help)

I figured as much. Very cool photos. I always enjoy the immediate post war shots. How long after were the soldiers required to strip their uniforms of insignia?

Is there someone on WAF who can show the entire picture of SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Waffen-SS Karl Wolff dressed in his italian tailored uniform ?

Yes that is the one I was thinking about...However after reviewing it, Gen.Wolff used an Italian custom made Sahariana with German style French cuffs (not seen on Italian Saharianas..)
and these are fully buttoned which is why they are called Saharianas (bush jackets).
The Italian Tropical "Camiciotto" (=shirt) on the other hand is a shirt style blouse or smock)...a pull-over...and LACKS the sahariana style chest pocket closures,
designed for better ventilation. That feature, as we all know, was incorporated by the W-SS for their version of the Italian "Sahariana" Bush jacket.

                          Nick, thanks for your help

You're right: it's not the same one and seems that the Italian Tropical "Camiciotto" could be the right answer thumbs up

                          Regards
