Hi, I got this nice brooch recently, what do you think about its dedication?
A gift for birth, a Lebensborn sign, or something else?
It is made from massive 800 silver, heavy!

Hi,

like many nordic symbols, it was - and is still - heavily used in Germany and other nordic countries.

In my opinion, it is not related to the Lebensborn, which was a small SS epiphenomenon which was highly phantasmed after the war to a ridiculous point. Only a few thousand of children were born there, and a few dozen of thousand were rapted in the east. We can compare that - even if it is a very disturbing count - to the 75000 to 200000 children born from german soldiers and french girls in France from 1941 to 1949. Imagine how many "war children" were born in other european countries...

There are many collector myths and assumptions related to Lebensborn. Some are true – some are wrong. Like this Lebensborn needle would definitely get thumbs down as a fantasy piece here on the forum. But it is genuine and original! I have this needle found by a girl (now elderly woman) in her mother’s belongings. This woman was born at a Lebensborn home here in Norway during the war. With Norwegian mother and German father (soldier in Norway). Later to be continued with an own thread!

I cant see any additional marking except the "800"
