    SS Dividion badge?

Can anyone here tell me if this is real and which unit that used it?

It's the sleeve raute for former members of the SA. I can't comment on it's originality from that photo.

I've handled only one known original, and it is nothing like this. I would pass.

            SS division badge

Hi all, i bought the same collar badge a few weeks ago, were did you buy it?
I think its genuine, it's a rare Horst Wessel division badge.

I'm afraid it is not a Horst Wessel division related piece of insignia nor is it an original raut. From Angolia's Cloth Insignia of the SS, 2nd Edition, 1989, Page 212: "Former members of the SA who reported for duty in Death Heads units were authorized an arm badge on 16 November 1939 with the SA insignia on a black diamond." What makes you think it has any thing to do with the Horst Wessel Division other than the insignia of the division's collar tab is the same as the raut presented for discussion?

What a load of cobblers THAT is. It has the SA rune on it the same as the 'Horst Wessel' volunteer's tab but that's where the similarity ends.

If you cannot recognise the shape of a raute compared to a collar tab you need to keep quiet and do your studying ... the same as we've all had to do.

                      Cheers, Ian.

I'm quite sure that book doesn't show a sleeve raute being worn as a collar patch

These are rare enough that Angolia couldn't find an original to photograph. Instead, he shows a drawing.
