It's a shame the story behind them is lost to history,But at least you have done well out of it.
The shop sounded like the kind of place i would have enjoyed browsing around.
    Cheers

        Wow! Nice job!

        You're a lucky bloke!
I've never found a green or brown one - just yellow (tan).

Green is Tough...Dark Brown damn near impossible..Billbert
Ps if you not aware these are for reversible camo cap green to brown insignia ...used with insignia for the shortest of times...

No sure what shocks me the most; the fact that you came across a camo eagle, the fact that you found a load of them or the ridiculously cheap price you paid

                Well done!

                  Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for all the feedback. I must admit that I'm instinctively treating the group as something that I want to keep together and not break down. It's interesting seeing items like this as they appeared prior to their attachment to the caps.

Are there any photos that show this kind of insignia in wear? (either black and white, or recent color reference). Curious to what this type of insignia would have looked like on a cap.

Bob Hirtz has provided a couple of great example here:

I think he meant war-time photos, but super looking caps that in the thread!

Thank you very much for posting the photos, both war time and current. I'm somewhat new to SS collecting and find this fascinating. Incredible story about Bob's cap from 2008.
