This is the rank pip worn on the upper left sleeve of a oberschutze(priviate first class) in both Army and SS.What color is the backing cloth?Field gray(green) or black?

          color

          Hello,
The color is plain black. Isn't the pip to small for SS? Here folows a scan of the pip self.
          Olivier

P.S: I've edited the back, so you could see what material it is made off. It is stiff like cardboard.

Black would be used for the black panzer wrap-around tunic. The size of the pip has nothing to do with it belonging a certain branch.

              hello Raymond,

OK, I thought that a larger was SS and the small probably Marine HJ or NSKK, but since I didn't know these where only guesses.

Could it also be something with Dutch Collaboration, becouse is was in a folded NSB flag.

What is a normal price of this kind of pip?

                Olivier,
It looks over small for a oberschutz pip used by the HEER (pz) or ss, I am not saying it is a fake just is probably for some other branch
                cheers,
                Gary
