Strange insignia on SS cap

a good thread where to repost this odd edelweiss.
I've been showing it around since a while without any result.Some guy wanted to buy it (it is not for sale),but none added anything useful to clearly ID it as a fake or a odd item,but good.

Even though it looks old and salty, its a fantasy piece IMO. The SS had their own unique embroidered hat edelweiss badges! Alternatively it could be a good Heer edelweiss with an (unofficial) SS device added...but when is the question? Nick

Hi Nick, you can easily guess my feelings. The badge has a good story behind, no $$$ paid for it, and after i played with it for days looking every detail and also burnt a fiber of the cloth, nothing funny came up. BUT... it should not exist.
I will put it in a drawer without labeling it good or bad for the time being :-)

non standard edelweiss

Eventhough it should not exist it has character and passed the flame test, so I would keep it too! Congratulations on the price! Nick
