    SS Skull Ring - digged

    Hello friends,

a couple of years ago a friend and me were on a battlefield-digging-tour in Germany and found this SS skull ring. It is made of silver.

I know that it is an early piece. The owner was from the 6SS.Div. Nord or in the 17.SS Div. GvB. There was a small battlegroup of 30man +/- entrenched in the outskirts of a wooden area, waiting for the US troops. They got encircled and captured after a tenacious fight. According to eyewitnesses, most of the soldiers were from the Wehrmacht, but some from the Waffen-SS, like the commanding Officer. He hides himself in the woods, but get captured. the GIs put him on the hood of there jeep and drove them to their command post.

My question is: Have you ever seen Photos of soldiers of the WaFFen-SS wearing such a SS-skull ring?

I would be glad if you could help me

It is an uncommon ring so I doubt you will be able to find a period picture of it in wear but it is war-time ring not a fantasy or post-war. original example below is not mine

Ordinarily, I'd approach this with healthy skepticism, but even I'm leaning toward the possibility that's real and period. I'm at about 60/40 or better which is a good sign! The skull looks good and the runics are the only question to me...what do you guys think? (Ric, gaspare, in particular)

                  Thank you for your comments.

I think these SS skull rings are all a little bit different - I think they were all handmade separately from a jeweler or a hobby jeweler. So there are some differences between them.

no they are not.. These rings are made with a working die,,set up in a machine and they die pressed.
There is but one master,,and that makes the working dies. IF there are big differences in the same pattern ring it is because of 2 things,,one, it is a fake,,2,,it was made from a different die and or manufacturer.
