Bought this cap from the son of a 101st airborne vet around 13 years ago. Apparently it was picked up in Berchtesgaden. The fork I'll post is what ended up getting me in the mans house to buy the cap. At the time I purchased the cap I was only 18 and very nieve to the value of provenance so I never gave a thought to get the veterans details from the son or at least ask to photocopy the pictures he showed me of his Dad during the war in Europe. Live and learn. Then I made the biggest mistake selling the cap 10 years ago. But I managed to get it back this week. I can't say how pleased I am to have this back in the collection after a decade of regret!
