    Forgery ?

Perhaps it is one of these? (scroll down to the sixth section)

I am not an expert when it comes to AH silverware, but this piece originally came from such an excellent source (a well-known U.S. edged weapons dealer) that I felt confident posting it for sale... oops!

      Looks indeed cast.

        Greg,

of course before starting discussion I compared features shown by pics with spoon in my collection (differently sized).

          What worries me is
          1. Low quality of the Eagle (imo not from legitimate wear)
          2. To the eagle's right side, notice how the border design cuts out near the edge.
          3. On the reverse near the proof markings, bumpy imperfections from what looks like casting.

I wouldn't consider this an original, but I'm no expert.

That sums up my view very well

It is a cast fake, no doubt about.
search in political forum, there's a pinned thread where there are many originals posted.
I post here the first piece I found of my collection. At the first see you can clearly see all the missing details and the flaws of the piece posted from Ric.

.......and I add the whole marking is cast in IMO.

Well spotted! There has not been so many fakes of these yet - and luckily they are still of poor quality. Given the high prices of AH flatware we can expect more and better fakes in the future.

Antonio Shows an original! Quite a difference...

                    Cheers

Glad this was posted, IMO this is a real armature attempt to use a jewelers casting method to copy an original. I have seen one other (demitasse spoon)

                      easy to spot!

If I compare this one with mine, the detail of the posted one is quit rude. Conclusion: fake.
