    Prinz Eugen collar patches

Got these while on vacation in Northern Italy in 2001. From small town antique shop for about 50 euro and this deal also included a WW2 German bread bag. I forgot all about them until today when I found them during Christmass cleaning. Any chance that these might be good? Rank patch look pretty ok.

The odal rune tabs normally have the corners mitred (i.e. angle joined into the corners). But see what the experts say.

            Cheers,Ian.

I have noticed that also. This odal rune is quite different that for example on those "Dachau" collar patches.

The rank tab appears to have the correct reverse..as for the Odal Rune it does not look like a Dachau style but may have been made elsewhere..can't say for sure on that one.

I have seen this Version 2 times. On an M36 and an M40. In my opinion a early 100% original PE patch

Amazing... I bought them from small antique shop near Turin (Torino). There was mostly boring stuff and I only went there because my wife insisted. I noticed a German bread bag hanging on the wall and owner said that he wanted about 50e for it, but he would include pair of German collar patches in that deal. I thought 50e was too much for a bread bag, but since I hadn't found anything else during those two weeks we had been there I thought I just buy it to have something. I never ever seriously thought that these collar patches were good! I was organizing my stuff today and happened to look inside that bread bag where I had left these.

while there are 2 distinct enlisted mans PE types collar insignia that are excepted, which i will illustrate with photo's below, the example above is not one of those, i do not like the backing material on both the rank and odal rune patch and i do not like the embroidery looks almost home done on a sewing machine, now some might argue locally made but it would not be one for me, sorry
                        cheers,
                        Gary

and here are a few fakes, this is quite a new fake, no lines on the back buckram is very coarse and varies from the normal light tan colour to a red brow colour
