Greetings all. I am a new member and looking for my first disappointment.

Can any of you subject matter experts out there tell me what you think of these?

The two eagles are very different in material (the top is much heavier). The top is also flat, while the lower is curved. You can see the differences in the pins. However, the markings on the reverse are identical. They each have an RZM on the lower left wing and the number 40 on the lower right wing.

OK, bring on the bad news.

I like the looks of the skull, but the eagles look a bit "pigeon headed". The real experts will let you know...

My thanks, gentlemen. I obtained the second eagle along with the skull as a set from a very well known and long respected militaria auction house many years ago. I loved the skull, but seriously doubted the eagle, since it matched the one above which I had been told was a fake. Doubting the eagle it came with caused me to begin to suspect the skull in spite of its strengths. I am glad to have those fears put aside; I am quite proud of that one.

So much for the metal, I will soon post some cloth to have scrutinized by your expert eyes.

Again, greatly appreciated and well worth the price of admission. Wish I'd found this forum a long time ago!
