    SS Gebirgsjager shoulder board ?

    Hi Guys,

Keith at HMS Brinmaric has a SS shoulder board for sale and I was hoping someone could tell me if its a Police board or a Gebirgsjager ? It seems Keith is leaning toward police. Im not sure.

    Hi Rich,

Thank you for letting me know about the thread. This board along with the other SS and GD officer's board I recently listed came from an estate sale.
I think this board is SS Police but it could be Mountain Troops. If any further pics are needed let me know.

    Keith

          Shoulderboard

This post confuses me a bit. A police captain would have a green underlay with dark brown as the secondary color btween the underlay and the cords. An SS captain would have a black underlay with green waffenfarbe. I believe the SS mountain troops wore darker green waffenfarbe and SD troops wore this color green (assuming the photographs show the actual colors). Police bluish green was not used as a scondary color for SS troops, to the best of my knowledge. Therefore, I believe ths is an SD board.

            Oops

After consulting the literature, it looks like the Polizei Division did indeed wear green piped SS pattern shoulder boards after 1942. With the mix of SS, police and Heer pattern shoulder boards worn by Polizei troops, it is difficult to tell with certainty.
