If I may...I kindly advise you first to get in to the history of the items you want to collect; this makes it much more fun to begin with and bewares you from making needless mistakes. There is enough reference about this topic to be found.

First of all I thought this is what this forum was for....to ask questions and learn about the various topics. Secondly, my knowledge lies more in the American realm of uniforms and such. Thirdly.... Don't "seriously" me. You want to respond RESPECTFULLY then I appreciate it. But don't talk down to me.

Thanks to all others who have taken the time to share their knowledge on topic / thread. If you have any other information besides "go do your homework" type of responses as the one mentioned above then please let me know.

No need to feel insulted, it was not my intention to do so. If you would have taken the time before replying you would see that I have helped you a long way already in this thread alone.

But indeed I do not understand you copy a link towards a 1943 dated cap which says so clearly in the discription it is and still ask if this would fit a 1941 display? Did you actually read it? This Forum requires also some intrinsic motivion is my believe. All knowledge you will gain here was not given to the people providing it for free as well. I just gave you some advise or you will get burned for sure, that's all.

        Regards

I wanted to know about the cap in the photo as I was looking for an example to purchase. Within the responses was this

The cap in the photo would have been in army feldgrau fabric without piping.
          Yours is an Orpo cap.

I noticed the word "feldgrau" and saw that in the description of the second link.

This cap is for that matter indeed confusing since most M43 Pol caps will be found in standard Polizei green. This particular cap is actually rather rare and illustrative of the increasing field use (Anti-Partisan) of Orpo personel, the same as with their special Dot M44 camo tunics; almost similar to their W-SS counterparts, but still something completely different.

One would imagine there should also have been a Feldgrau Orpo tunic at some point, but don't believe there ever was.

How about this? Obviously he is in the SS, right?

"Police pattern" IMO could indicate that it is not a police cap but one patterned after a police cap. The photo is too graney to identify the cap as being the Orpo type. Once again probably a feldgrau cap.

Yes, this is a member of the Pol Division in the early years; his cap would be without piping and in field grey and as said, often the M1934 Army cap with Police insignia.
