SS mess kit

I was wondering if somebody can tell me if this mess kit was owned by an SS soldier ?

The mess kit is marked MN88

The lid is marked : Zorrer Hans, SS, Reg. 8.
I can't find anything about this guy. Is there a register for finding german soldiers ?

This marking could be very well added postwar and probably it was to enhance sale value. Unless you dug or found it yourself, I wouldn't trust it.
