Yes I saw that too ....
This particular type of runic tab scares the hell out of me
So much so I would leave well alone
    It's a no from me ...

If you like it or not is one question. Can you say its an original and based on what?

            Not for me as well...
The runes are not what I would expect to see, sure there are many different runes styes but this tab just doesn't look right to me.

              Original???

              Ok Felix, that's the question.
Many of the guys here do tumbs up , or tumbs down, here on the site.
              NO explaing at all
Well, ok, I have a panzer wrap with all the effects original factory mounted, and you runes are exactly like them.
I am not telling why they are original ( there comes the explaining against the ""Fakers" not give them the details "Why").

It's quite simple, they are perfectly made , as ss items are.

              So,
              In my opinion 100%

If you want to be them fakers , ok , you're free to think.
And NO i am not going to post my wrapper.

Extra information for the dis believers:

If you own the book Uniforms of the Waffen ss, from Michael Beaver you will find it on page 189,
              exactly the same.

I'd be interested to see such a type of machine embroidered SS rune tab (on badge cloth backing AND with white stitching on the back) in a Dachau-lot captured by a veteran...

                Kind regards,
                Gerd V

                  Dachau ??

I don't know if these are `"Dachau" made.
The only thing I know about the runes tab it's a late war ('44) tab.

                  That's it.

There is no book with runes and factories. I hope a book will come out soon about that...

                    Yes very late ... about 2012 I'd say ...
Once again its not something I would want in my collection

                      Hi,

Well, I'm glad you put this fact forward. In fact I never claimed that certain tabs are exclusively 'Dachau-made'. However, the consensus is that Dachau featured important logistical depots at the end of the war. Insignia brought back from these logistical depots after the liberation are mid-war to late war items. Your "late-war kind" were never amongst these however...

The mid to late war SS EM rune tabs we've seen in various topics on Dauchau hauls on the forums are:
                      1. The 3 variations EM BeVo SS rune tabs;
                      2. The rare EM machine woven variation using off-white yarn
                      http://www.nieuweorde.be/wp-content/...ng-374_opt.jpg
                      3. TWO types of EM machine embroidered rune tabs:
                      a. silver-grey thread embroidered on badge cloth backing. These DON'T feature white stitching on the back. (See enclosed pic).
                      b. off-white yarn embroidered on rayon cotton-twill backing. These DO feature white stitching on the back. (See enclosed pic).

These are as far as I recall the only documented mid to late war tabs (as these where found in Dachau). Stating that the tabs that started this topic are late war doesn't make sense. If they did, why weren't they ever encountered in veteran hauls?
Were these in fact even encountered on this forum in topics dating 10 years back?

The stitching on the back makes us think of Dachau tabs in general, and therefore younger collectors erroneously tend to link them to Dachau-finds and Dachau-tabs... They are wrong IMO.

David Stossgruppe3 is close when stating these are more or less 5 years old

Maybe older collectors can confirm my evaluation on these kind of tabs. But this is my conviction on these kind of tabs.

                      Kind regards,
                      Gerd V

                        Nice thread

I like these pics, One cotton, one wool. GREAT !!

I did buy the same (Wool) on Collectors guild. latewar. Both are ok.
                        Perfection.
